Nelson Ramirez has been producing coffee in the Santa Barbara region since 2009, after purchasing his first farm in the area, Finca Cheli, to later expand his time and energy into yet another farm, Finca Androz.

With the idea to provide his children with a better future he wanted to invest, this time, purely on quality. This is why he decided to buy a coffee farm on the famous Santa Barbara. This region has a reputation of its own for its very special microclimate. High altitude, cold nights, volcanic soil and high humidity produced by the lake Yojoa right next to it provide exceptional growing conditions for coffee.

Nelson enjoys cupping and pushes himself to understand what creates quality. It also helps him to work as a technician for IHCAFE (Honduran Institute of Coffee). This means he often travels to different farms with the intention of educating and helping producers to improve their crops.

After success at the Project Origin ‘Best of Honduras: Late Harvest’ auction programs, Nelson has invested in solar drying machinery and has experimented with anaerobic processing techniques to further develop his parainema harvests.

This crop is the epitome of such experiments, enjoy.
