Finca Santa Lucía, located in Costa Rica’s West Valley, is operated by Ricardo Pérez and his daughter, Mariana. The challenges and costs of producing high-quality coffee are ever-present, yet Don Ricardo and his family remain resolutely committed to sustainable farming practices, believing this approach is essential for securing a viable future for the next generation. Their dedication has yielded impressive results, with Finca Santa Lucía consistently ranking as a finalist in the esteemed Costa Rica Cup of Excellence competition, a distinction it has held every year since the competition’s inception in 2007.
All of the farm’s coffees are processed at the Pérez family’s mill, Helsar de Zarcero, where Ricardo, alongside his brothers Marvin and Felipe, not only processes their own crops but also those from over a dozen other local producers. This meticulous approach guarantees full traceability of each lot, reflecting their steadfast commitment to quality and transparency.
