Slain in Spirit is the work of Sebastian Gomez at La Divisa, in Circasia in Colombia's Quindio region. Geisha is taken through an EF2 natural at 1,700 to 1,800 MASL, giving cherry, cola and passionfruit.
Geisha (Gesha) traces to the Gori Gesha forest of Ethiopia and rose to fame through Panama's Hacienda Esmeralda. It is delicate to grow and low-yielding, but at altitude it delivers jasmine, bergamot and tropical fruit with rare clarity.
In the natural process, whole cherry is dried intact so the bean steeps in its own fruit. Done with discipline it builds heavy sweetness, body and pronounced berry character, with no shortcuts at the drying stage.
Colombia's combination of high Andean altitude, volcanic soil and two flowerings a year makes it one of the most consistent specialty origins on earth, with a deep bench of growers pushing varietal and process innovation.
