Moises Chaguala stands within a lineage shaped by time. A third-generation producer, he and his family live among the trees they tend, working the slopes of Finca El Recuerdo while stewarding Finca La Maria close by. More than 25 years of labour have refined their focus, drawing them steadily toward the discipline of specialty coffee and the quiet pursuit of finer microlots.
At 1,750 MASL, the land imposes its own order. Cool air slows the fruit, density builds, and sweetness gathers within the cherry. These heights demand patience, yet reward it with clarity and depth that cannot be rushed.
In 2013, Moises accepted a small offering of Pink Bourbon seedlings, planted at the urging of those who recognised their promise. Thought to be a meeting of Red and Yellow Bourbon, the variety carries the elegance of its parents and a reputation for heightened sweetness, its sugars leaning toward glucose. The yield is modest, the demand exacting, yet the cup speaks with a generosity that continues to draw attention, marking this work as both inheritance and intent.
