In the remote heights of Planadas, where cloud and mountain fold into one, stands ASOPEP, the Asociación de Productores Ecológicos de Planadas. It is not simply a cooperative. It is a gathering of growers who chose to bind their futures together. More than one hundred families labour within its circle, tending volcanic soils with intention, preserving shade, biodiversity and lineage. Their purpose is clear and unwavering: protect the land, elevate the harvest, and ensure that every lot leaving Planadas carries the full truth of its origin.
ASOPEP has earned a reputation for discipline. Every stage is accounted for, every process observed, and every grower supported with training and shared infrastructure. Through this, the region has risen from anonymity to become one of Tolima’s most respected sources of specialty coffee. What leaves their hands has passed through a chain of stewardship, each link as accountable as the last.
From within this collective comes a Caturra natural shaped on terraces where the air thins and the fruit matures slowly. Cherries are selected with precision, taken only at full ripeness, heavy with sugars gathered from cool nights and sharp light. They dry under constant watch, moved and monitored until the fruit transfers its full measure into the seed.
The result is a natural that carries depth without disorder, fruit without excess. It stands as proof of ASOPEP’s covenant that when many hands hold the same intention, the cup becomes more than a product. It becomes a relic of place, labour and persistence.
